Request for Proposal for Food Service Vendor
 
Pathways to College K8 (PTC) is a Charter School, authorized by the Hesperia Unified School District. PTC plans to serve around 540 students, in grades TK through 8th, in the 2025/2026 school year. PTC invites written proposals from qualified companies for vended meals for our Nutrition Services Program Service includes the school breakfast and lunch meals from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026, and if approved, summer meals.
 
 
Pathways to College K8 Background
 
Pathways to College K8, formed in March 2006 as a Kindergarten through 4th Grade school and feeder school to Crosswalk High School, was founded to create a safe and secure educational environment with comprehensive programs to guarantee intellectual, moral, social, emotional, and physical development for students of varying abilities. In June 2009, the school was reorganized to become a Kindergarten through 8th Grade school under Crosswalk: Hesperia Experiential Learning Pathways, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.

Here are some questions we have received and answers.
 
Are we able to provide a proposal even though we did not make it to the tour?
Yes, the tour is suggested, but not required. You may still submit an RFP without doing a tour.
 
What kitchen and cold storage equipment do you currently have on-site? Warmers, retherm, coolers, freezers, and other related equipment.

What kitchen and cold storage equipment will you have in the new facility?
We are set up to offer a heat-and-serve model.
 
Do you currently have staff to heat meals on-site and will you be able to heat on-site in the upcoming school year?
Yes, we currently have Nutrition Services Staff to meet the needs of our nutrition services here and will be at the new site.
 
Do you need a paper copy of the proposal as well as an electronic (email) copy?
I can accept an electronic copy or a paper, whichever is most convenient for you.

Are there vending machines on your site? If so, who owns them?​
No, we don't currently have vending machines on site.
 
Do you plan to utilize your remaining K.I.T. funds?​
No. Our KIT funds expense deadline was June 30, 2023.
 
How many deliveries does your current vendor make per week?​
We have flexibility on deliveries. We can accept deliveries daily or weekly.

How many cold meals vs hot meals are delivered to each site on average?​
The breakfasts are cold meals, the lunches are hot meals. But we would like to see all options.
 
What is the highest priority?​
Variety and compliance.

How popular are the vegetarian options amongst students?​
We have not really dabbled into this area before, but I am sure there is some interest.

Would you consider a salad bar for your students?​
Not at this time, but possibly in future school years.

Would you be open to receiving family-style meals?​
No.
