Open Enrollment
Open enrollment applications for the 2026-2027 school year are accepted from April 1, 2026, to April 24, 2026. Open Enrollment is for New Student Applications ONLY. Applications received after April 24th will be added to the Waitlist.
The New Enrollment or Lottery Application will require the following information:
- Student's full name
- Student's date of birth
- New Parent Information
- Household/Family contact information w/ addresses
- Current school attending and current year grade
- Sibling information (name, dob, grade)
How the Lottery Process Works
Pathways to College K8 holds a public lottery to determine applicant acceptance in all grades where more student applications are received than seats available. Enrollment is processed by grade level. If space is available for all applicants in a particular grade level, entrants will be enrolled after the Open Enrollment deadline (April 24, 2026). Any applications received on April 25th and after will be placed on a waiting list. A lottery will be held for any grade levels that are oversubscribed (more students than seats available). Families in the lottery will be notified by email and/or text.
The public lottery for the 2026-2027 school year will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 10:00 AM PST.
All new student applicants who apply between April 1st and April 24th are eligible to participate. If you are currently on the waitlist for 2025-2026, you must reapply if you wish to be considered for the 2026-2027 school year. The waitlist will not roll over.
After Open Enrollment closes on April 24, 2026, all applicants who have completed the Lottery Application will receive information about the upcoming lottery.
All applicants who are accepted will receive notification via email and/or text. Applicants will have three (3) days to accept the offer of enrollment. Lottery winners must notify the school by Thursday, May 7th, whether they accept the offer of enrollment or decline the offer of enrollment. If no communication is received, the school will automatically decline the enrollment and select the next student on the waitlist. Parents/Guardians are welcome to reapply.
If a parent/guardian does accept the offer of enrollment, they will have three (3) days to complete all enrollment, registration, and supporting documents. Birth certificates, immunization records, and parent ID must be submitted by the parent/guardian. The person registering the student must be a legal guardian (It is recommended that parents make an appointment to submit these documents).
Parents/guardians do not need to be present for the lottery. By early May 4th, all applicants will receive a notification indicating their enrollment status and final lottery number. If you do not receive a notification by May 4th, please call us at (760)949-8002.
Enrollment support is available. Please contact the school at (760)949-8002 to schedule an appointment.
All forms must be completed and additional documentation must be submitted by the deadline or your acceptance into Pathways to College K8 will be forfeited.
Waitlisted applications: If spots become available, parents/guardians will be notified according to waitlist number by email, text or phone call with an offer of enrollment.

Immunization Requirements for TK/K
Per California Health and Safety Code, Sections 120325-120375, the requirements for pre-enrollment into NeaCLC for Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten are listed below and more information is available on the California Department of Public Health website Shots for School.
Make sure that your child is on track to complete immunization requirements. Children behind on their required immunizations will not be permitted to enroll without documentation from a physician stating that 1) they are not currently due for any doses (due to being on an alternative immunization schedule), or 2) they have a valid medical exemption. Please see the Child and Adolescent Vaccine Assessment Tool on the CDC website for a list of recommended dates for immunizations based on your child's birth date.
If your child receives any additional vaccinations between their date of enrollment into Nea and the first day of the school year, you must bring the updated immunization records into your school office sometime during the two-week period prior to the first day of school. Remember, children who have not provided Nea with documentation verifying they have received all required immunizations prior to the first day of school will not be allowed to attend school until all immunization records have been provided.

School Entry Health Exam (Kindergarten)
What is involved?
School health exam requirements are specified in the California Health and Safety Code: California Code of Regulations, Title 5, Section 432. Your child's health exam should include:
- Health and developmental history
- Unclothed, complete physical examination
- Oral health assessment
- Nutrition assessment
- Vaccinations, appropriate for age
- Vision screening
- Hearing screening
- Screening for anemia, lead, urine abnormalities, tuberculosis, etc.
- Health education and anticipatory guidance
Why is this required?
The School Entry Health Exam is intended to detect problems that may interfere with effective learning. Early identification and treatment are important because an undetected health problem can hamper your child's progress in school.
When Does it need to be done?
California Law requires that the Health Examination for School Entry be completed sometime between 18 months before entering first grade and 3 months after entering into first grade.
How do I fulfill this requirement?
Nea collects the Report of Health Examination for School Entry form as part of the kindergarten enrollment process along with required vaccination records.
School Entry Dental Exam (Kindergarten)
Why is this required?
The School Entry Dental Exam is intended to detect problems that may interfere with effective learning. Children need good oral health to eat properly, talk, smile, and feel good about themselves. Children with cavities may have difficulty eating and have problems paying attention and learning at school. Cavities are preventable, but they affect more children than any other chronic disease.
When does it need to be done?
California Law requires that the Oral Health Assessment for School Entry be completed by May 31 of the kindergarten year, or within 12 months before your child starts school. (If you cannot fulfill this requirement, please indicate the reason in Section 3 of the form).
How do I fulfill this requirement?
Nea collects the Oral Health Assessment/Waiver Request form as part of the kindergarten enrollment process.
Who Should do the exam and Complete the form:
This assessment must be done by a dentist or other dental health professional licensed in the State of California.
Charter School Complaint Notice and Form
Charter schools are not allowed to discourage a pupil from enrolling or seeking to enroll in the charter school because the pupil exhibits any characteristics such as students with disabilities, academically low-achieving, English learners, neglected or delinquent, homeless, socially economically disadvantaged, foster youth, or based on nationality, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Charter schools are not allowed to request a pupil's records before enrollment or encourage a child who is enrolled in a charter school to disenroll or transfer to another school. A parent, guardian, or pupil (18 years or older) may file a Charter School Complaint Form to the authorizing entity if they suspect the charter school is in violation of Education Code Section 47605(d)(4).
