Mrs. Teresa "Terri" Adams » Meet your teacher

Meet your teacher

I am so thrilled to return to the Pathways Family!  This is my third teaching at Pathways. This year I'm on a new adventure, teaching 3rd & 4th grades...I'm so excited for the year ahead.

I see that my role is to inspire students to strive for excellence, to be critical thinkers, and to prepare them for real-world experiences in a fast paced and evolving society where they need to be able to collaborate with others and adapt to an ever changing work and social environment.  I do this by guiding students in lessons designed to facilitate self-discovery, cooperative learning, social interaction, and critical thinking. In my experience, students who are given the opportunity to learn through discovery and using technology have so much fun they don’t even know they are learning!

see each child as a unique individual with their own gifts to contribute to the classroom.  As the teacher, it is my job to help them recognize, discover, and develop these gifts by creating a safe environment where expectations are clear and self-expression is encouraged.

About Me:
I was born and raised in a small town in Idaho where I lived on a farm and was the oldest of 5 children.  I used to play "school" with my siblings and of course had to be the teacher!  Here I am (a few) years later ready to share my passion with the world!

I received my undergraduate degree from Idaho State University with a BA in Social Work and minor in Psychology.  I completed my multiple subject credential and my Master of Education, Special Emphasis at the University of La Verne in May 2015.

Fun Facts:
  • I have 3 wonderful little boys that give me more adventure in my life than should be allowed (plus one dog (Layla) and now a cat (KitCat)
  • I have run two marathons (Rock-n-Roll San Diego & Long Beach Marathon) and I still enjoy running
  • I love the outdoors - fishing - camping - hiking
  • Some things on my bucket list:
    • Completing a triathalon
    • Visiting all 50 states (especially Mt. Rushmore on the 4th of July)
    • Salmon fishing in Alaska
    • Seeing the Northern Lights

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!  I am so excited to have you in my classroom!  I look forward to meeting each of you at our back to school night on Tuesday, August 8th.
It has been such an honor teaching your children and watching them grow!  Now its time to enjoy summer!  Remember to keep reading all summer!  Come see me in the fall!!!!
We finished up talking about Penguins and Polar Bears by taking the "Polar Bear Plunge".  Students got to see how important "blubber" is to these animals that live in the cold...so we wrapped their paws in vegetable shortening and let them take the test.  They all agreed blubber is better!
Our trip to Riley's Farm was so much fun!  All that we had been learning for the past 2 weeks came to life as we got a glimpse of life long ago...from washing and cleaning a one-room house, to a hay ride and playing with toys from long ago!
